Creating Successful Relationships in Business

Having a knack for being personable and creating great relationships with peers, clients, and employees are, I believe, what makes a successful person in sales for IST Management.


In my experience, success didn't start until a little over a year after I accepted the position with IST. The first two things that helped me were patience and maintaining the relationships I created. The business relationships I built weren't created overnight; they took time to nurture and grow.


You have to be prepared to put in the necessary time to develop strong relationships with all your potential clients. There can be a thin line in communication, however. Never try to push clients into using your services or to build a relationship but always stay in touch. By following their company on social media and in the news, I would reach out, congratulate them on their successes, never forget a birthday or a special event, and when I did get the chance to have lunch or attend an event with a potential client, I truly listened to what they had to say.

Client Services

The main service I provide to all of my clients is remaining very prompt for every request. I feel it is flattering for a potential client to know that I am there for them and paying attention directly to them. I do try to also keep communication casual as I don't want any of my customers to feel like I am pushing them to buy or extend any services. My focus is away from the sales pitch and towards building professional relationships. Once the connection is in place, the sale always comes naturally.


Once a client uses IST services, I always seek feedback. By paying attention to what clients have to say and listening to their feedback, it aids me to better serve them for their specific needs or make any small adjustments if need be. Always be prepared to give something of value; a solution, a fresh perspective, a smile. If there were one phrase to describe my ability to create, grow, and maintain business relationships, it would be to "remain genuine."


Continuing to educate myself and learn more about my clients only furthers sales success. It helps tremendously to have a fantastic support team to have your back, and at IST all of my supervisors and peers are what drive me and motivate me to succeed.
