IST Honors Hispanic Heritage Month
Hanging With Hal
From September 15 to October 15, we should all be learning about the generations of Hispanic Americans who have influenced, enriched, and represented American culture.
From the beginning of our country, the Latino people of Central and South America have contributed greatly to our cultural story. This month-long celebration began in 1968 with a week-long celebration under President Lyndon B Johnson. Beginning in the middle of September and ending in the middle of October, the dates for Hispanic Heritage Month were chosen to celebrate the monumental independence days of the countries below.
September 15 - Costa Rica 🇨🇷, El Salvador 🇸🇻, Guatemala 🇬🇹, Honduras 🇭🇳, & Nicaragua 🇳🇮
September 16 - Mexico 🇲🇽
September 18 - Chile 🇨🇱
September 21 - Belize 🇧🇿
Embracing Our Stories
At IST Management, so much of our success stems from embracing cultural diversity. From our employee base, vendors, community outreach efforts, sales events, and partnerships — like the Halidom Eatery — representation matters. The more we learn about each other's traditions and heritage, the more opportunities we have to connect and build meaningful relationships, business or personal. Every person at IST brings a beautiful story and wealth of experience to their role.
My wife, Rosa, has been a constant source of inspiration and cultural enrichment in my life. Her heritage and story have not only deepened my understanding of Hispanic culture but have also broadened my perspective on the importance of family, tradition, hard work, and community. I've been fortunate to share many trips with Rosa to visit her family in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, each trip more incredible than the last. Our family reminds us that we have so much to learn from each other, and I can’t express the impact that Rosa's Hispanic heritage has had on my life and my personal perspective!!!!!

One of the traditions I have enjoyed celebrating with Rosa the most is Dia de Muertos. On November 2nd, we honor our loved ones who have passed away with a beautiful altar. We decorate the altar with photos, food and drinks, play our favorite songs and share stories. This tradition encapsulates the tradition of celebrating both the beauty in life and death.
A Culture of Success
This Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to recognize our Executive Assistants, Events, and Marketing teams for ensuring that IST’s work actively takes a multi-cultural approach, by collaborating with diverse vendors and including cultural representation. When employees feel seen, heard, and valued, they are more likely to be engaged, motivated, and productive. As a company that is all about building community, I love knowing that we do so with full representation of all human experiences.
Thank you for all bringing a part of your history to the world, learning from one another, and, as always, contributing to a culture of success at IST Management.
