Planning for Decades, Not Quarters
Hanging With Hal
I didn’t build IST all those years ago to flip it, I built it to last.
This has been our mindset since day one... and it expands to how we approach our processes with sustainability in mind. ESG isn’t simply a buzzword or a trending idea for me. At the heart of our commitment to optimizing the experience of the worker, guest, or student is an understanding of how and why longevity is achieved. Building a successful company, office, university, or hospital means solving problems for decades instead of quarters. I’ve never been the leader who thought of taking care of workers as something that looks good on paper one year and not the other.
Years ago, IST made the call to move our processes digital. Most of our environmental footprint came from paperwork, so that’s where we started. This wasn’t a trendy decision. It was how we kept delivering high-level business without wasting precious resources.
A Responsible Partner, Not Just a Provider
The most successful operations don’t treat resources as someone else’s issue down the line.
More and more of our corporate clients face increasing ESG commitments, and as much as I understand that… IST’s story looks slightly different. Our production is our people. So we focus on the things we can control, and we look at the whole life cycle of our services. We didn’t realize our commitment to optimizing our processes made us greener - minimizing waste and reducing both ourselves and our clients' carbon footprint.
I have always believed that compliance is the floor, not the ceiling. Beyond legal requirements, IST Management holds operations to our own standards of excellence and to clients' expectations. When we roll out new processes, our partners always hear directly from Ops/ROMs/Project Managers.

We hold our manufacturing partners to the same high standard.
IST requires manufacturing partners to meet government environmental directives, including:
- Clean manufacturing
- Clean, ENERGY STAR-rated & compliant technology
- Efforts toward zero-emission products
- Efforts toward zero-waste products
- Efficient, energy-saving facilities
- Recycling programs
IST’s Sustainable Practice in Action
- Remote Work and flexible schedules
- Eco-friendly service delivery
- Green office practices and recycling programs
Going Digital:
- Paperless payroll, employee onboarding, billing, and purchase orders
- Online reports, employee surveys, and copy submission
- Docstor, our digital filing system
The Sustainability Story of IST’s Corporate HQ: Halidom
In 2022, our new headquarters were opened and Halidom - ATL was born. Visiting our 10-acre campus in East Atlanta, Georgia, paints a picture of how IST seeks to enhance community success through innovation. From single-use plastic reduction to LED lighting, where we can give back to our environment, we do. 3.5 acres are untouched in their natural state, alongside the historic Entrenchment Creek. We installed a trash catchment system near a storm drain to stop plastic and other waste from reaching the creek and built a walking path with more than 300 varieties of native trees and flowering plants.
The Future is Green
Every IST employee is expected to find ways to make our process better, and in turn our workplaces greener.
Thank you to our incredible teams and partners who do this work every day without a spotlight, understanding that a solution is only an IST solution if it protects people, processes, and our resources.
To our clients with ESG goals, we’d be glad to walk you through how you can enhance your business without costing the environment.
